# Terms of service > The plain-language terms for using The Dealer Profile as a buyer or a dealer: profiles, reviews, subscriptions, removal requests and liability. Who we are and what you are agreeing to The Dealer Profile (“we”, “the site”) at thedealerprofile.com is a public directory and review platform for used car dealerships in the United States. By using the site you agree to these terms and to our [privacy policy](https://thedealerprofile.com/privacy). If you are claiming or managing a dealership profile, you confirm you are authorised to act for that business. ## 2. Dealer profiles Profiles are created from public business information: business listings, state dealer license records and imported directories. A profile can exist before a dealer has claimed it, in the same way a business appears in a map or a phone directory. We show what we know and omit what we do not; we do not invent ratings, reviews, inventory or years in business. > Ratings cannot be purchased. No plan, payment or relationship with us changes a trust score, a rating or the order of reviews. ## 3. Reviews - You may only review a dealership you dealt with yourself, once per dealership every 90 days. - Reviews must be truthful, must not include other people's personal data, and must not be written for payment or by the dealer's staff. - We screen every review automatically and may hold it for human moderation. We may remove reviews that break these rules, and we may anonymise reviews when an author deletes their account. - Dealers may respond publicly to a review or flag it for our review. Dealers cannot edit or delete reviews. - By posting, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to display and quote your review on the site and in our materials, with your display name. The full policy is on the [trust & safety page](https://thedealerprofile.com/trust-and-safety). ## 4. Dealer claims and subscriptions - Claiming a profile is free. We verify ownership by phone or by documents, and we may reject or reverse a claim that we believe is not genuine. - Paid plans (Verified at $49/month and Pro at $149/month) are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. Verified includes a 14-day free trial; you are not charged if you cancel before the trial ends. - You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time from the billing portal in your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not prorate refunds for partial months except where the law requires it. - When a plan ends, features beyond the free plan are switched off. We do not delete your photos or data, but photos beyond the free limit are hidden until you resubscribe. - Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice by email. Taxes are added where applicable. ## 5. Leads Buyers who contact a dealer through the site agree that their message and contact details are passed to that dealer. Dealers must use lead details only to respond to the inquiry and must honour requests to stop contact. Per-lead fees, where offered, are stated before you enable them. ## 6. Acceptable use Do not scrape the site at a rate that affects other users, attempt to access other accounts or non-public data, submit fake reviews, claims or leads, or use the site to harass anyone. We may suspend accounts and profiles that do. ## 7. Removal and deletion requests A dealer may ask us to remove personal information from a profile, mark a dealership closed, or merge duplicates; because the underlying business information is public, a profile itself generally stays listed. A buyer may delete their account at any time. Both kinds of request are reviewed by a person and answered by email, normally within 30 days. Information about dealers comes from third parties and from dealers themselves and may be incomplete or out of date. A trust score is a summary of the signals we hold, not a guarantee of any dealer's conduct, and it is not advice. Always verify a license and inspect a vehicle before you buy. ## 9. Limitation of liability To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for any loss arising from a purchase or dealing with a dealer listed on the site. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the site is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law allows. ## 10. Changes to these terms We may update these terms. Material changes are announced on the site and, for account holders, by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the site after that date means you accept the new terms. ## 11. Governing law **Pending legal review.** The governing law and the venue for disputes are being finalised with our legal counsel.
